Guest Rooms

The Haymaker's Room
Queen size, solid cherry
bed.
Sink in room, small bath in former closet.
High ceiling, overhead fan.
Antiques, 1933 magazines. |
|
| On the dresser you'll
find Dick's forty page treatise, "The Haymaker's
Room." It wanders from his recollections of haymaking with
horses to the role of MAC through MSU in agricultural development,
depression era bankers, and more than you ever wanted to know
about manure. JoAnn thinks it combines wonderfully with a solid
bed and the hum of an overhead fan to make for an early and good
night's sleep, but Dick is a little sensitive about his writing,
so humor him.
$68 per night except certain
holidays.
During the summer you may smell freshly mown hay through the
open window! |
The Milktester's
Room
Queen size solid walnut
bed.
Small private bath.
High ceiling, overhead fan.
Small deck with stairway to tennis/basketball court. |
|
| "And how did this
room get it's name?" Dick was afraid you'd never ask. But
in case you did, he wrote, "The Milktester's Room,"
only 23 pages long. You'll learn a lot about cows and sheep;
their husbandry, breeding, habits, and history. In case you find
Dick overly attached to the subject, you should know he started as
a farm veterinarian. He's not selling as well as James Herriot.
$78 per night except certain
holidays.
From the deck watch the wood's edge for deer, the sky for stars,
or, as we say in the country, "Listen for the corn
growing." |
The Thresher's Room
Double bed, ceiling fan.
Shares bath with one other room.
Our largest room; has desk, can accommodate a child or pet.* |
|
| The cherry bed is
historic, both Dick and his father having been born in it.
Naturally you'll be interested in reading about threshers and a
variety of only vaguely connected subjects such as German
prisoners of war, animal cloning, and a biblical reference to
sheep. This is the room that may be visited by Isaiah Allen's
first wife's ghost. We don't think she really comes anymore but
regular visitor, Randy, thinks differently.
* Well behaved members of either
category are welcome at Bon Accord!
$58 per night except certain
holidays
Read or work at the desk late, you're on the west side so the
sun won't wake you up so early. |
The Hired Girl's
Room
Double bed.
Shares bathroom with another room. |
|
| This small cozy room is
handy as it is right next to the bathroom it shares. While most
early B&Bs had shared baths, we know it is becoming less
popular, so, except during our busiest times, by advance
arrangement for an additional $10 we will agree not to rent the
other room. Yes, Dick's grandmother Anna, who raised seven
children, tended the chickens and helped milk the cows, had a
hired girl. Learn all about her, the rest of Dick's ancestors
and other selected short (usually) topics.
$58 per night except during certain
holidays. |
